Monomania is the fifth album by Deerhunter, the Atlanta, Georgia psych-tinged alt-rock act who found critical acclaim with their 2010 release, Halcyon Digest. Named for frontman Bradford Cox’s self-confessed, unfaltering focus on the creation of music—which borders on obsession—the album was recorded in the band’s favorite Brooklyn studio, the Rare Book Room.

Described as a slight step into the avant-garde, Monomania is also their first album without bassist Josh Fauver, who was replaced prior to these sessions by Josh McKay of Athens, Georgia act Macha.
