Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings - I Learned The Hard Way

Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings

I Learned The Hard Way

The record marks a bold step forward for a band who almost single-handedly stewarded today’s return of Soul music to its more traditional sound.

I Learned the Hard Way was produced by Bosco Mann and recorded on an Ampex eight-track tape machine by Gabriel Roth in Daptone Records’ House Of Soul studios, the record drips with a warmth and spontaneity rarely found since the golden days of Muscle Shoals and Stax.

Joe Bonamassa - Black Rock

Joe Bonamassa

Black Rock

Black Rock was recorded at, and named for, Black Rock Studios in Santorini, Greece.

On the album, Bonamassa enlisted the help of some of the best Greek musicians to add a little flavor to a couple of the tracks.

Joe also signed up Blues legend B.B. King for a duet on a rendition of the Willie Nelson-penned song, ‘Night Life’. B.B. duets with Joe, both vocally and on his famous Lucille guitar.

Other tracks appearing on the album Jeff Beck’s ‘Spanish Boots’, Leonard Cohen’s poetic ‘Bird On A Wire’, Otis Rush’s ‘Three Times A Fool’, Bobby Parker’s ‘Steal Your Heart Away’, Blind Boy Fuller’s ‘Baby, You Gotta Change Your Mind’, John Hiatt’s ‘I Know A Place’ and James Clark’s ‘Look Over Yonders Wall’, as well as Bonamassa originals.

Mick Taylor Band - Tokyo Concert

Mick Taylor Band

Tokyo Concert

Unlike his ex- Rolling Stones buddies, Mick Taylor never associated fame with talent nor celebrity with artistic merit.

His aristocratic attitude and manners obscured the fact that he was the only authentic working class guitar hero of the bunch - largely responsible for the unmistakable Stones’ rugged musical elegance.

This is more obvious than ever in Taylor’s 2009 Tokyo concert. Superbly backed by Max Middleton, Jeff Allen, Kuma Harada and Denny Newman, Mick revisits in grand style his now classic repertoire as well as tunes of Muddy Waters, Bob Dylan and others.

Guitar Shorty - Bare Knuckle

Guitar Shorty

Bare Knuckle

Legendary axeman GUITAR SHORTY is more popular now than at any time in his storied 50-year career.

One of the best-known names in blues, his last album, 2007’s We The People, won the Blues Music Award for Contemporary Blues Album of the Year.

That record and 2005’s Watch Your Back have sold over 33,000 units worldwide.

Bare Knuckle is another heavy dose of Guitar Shorty blues. The guitar legend fires off bruising riffs and raw, fervent vocals on an exhilarating collection of deep, hard-rocking tracks, while his up-to-the-minute lyrics address everything from the economic meltdown and the plight of Iraq War veterans to timeless tales of love won and lost.
