Bad as Me, Tom Waits first studio album of all new music in seven years, features a stellar cast of musicians, and co-production and songwriting from Kathleen Brennan.

While the trademarks of Waits’ 21st century music are showcased in tracks such as “Chicago” and Hell Broke Luce, there also nods back, in ballads such as “Last Leaf” and the barroom chorale “New Year’s Eve.”

Raised Right Men is a modern take on Waits’ blues clatter, while Satisfied employs his take on gospel.

Mumford & Sons, have created a gutsy, old-time sound that marries the magic of Crosby, Stills & Nash with the might of Kings Of Leon and the harmonies of Fleet Foxes. Sigh No More was recorded at Eastcoast Studios and produced by Markus Dravs who has worked with such superstar acts as Arcade Fire, Bjork and Peter Gabriel. Formed in 2007, the band’s goal since day one has been to make music that matters.

Mount Wittenberg Orca was inspired by events on Mt. Wittenberg in Nor Cal. It pushes Longstreth’s obsession with vocal harmony that figured huge on Bitte Orca. This seven-song, twenty-one minute collection is the first music the band recorded after Bitte Orca, and it feels more like a small album than an EP. It is also their most staggering collaboration yet — with the Icelandic artist Björk.

Writing began in 2010 and by early 2011 the band entered a Los Angeles studio with producer Rich Costey, who introduced Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro and Stephen Perkins to TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek with the hopes of getting him involved somehow.

After a couple of lab sessions, the chemistry was obvious. Sitek stepped into the role of songwriter and bass player for the album with Navarro, and touring bassist Chris Chaney, also sharing four-string duties.
